2019 Pen-Impact Writing Contest- 100,000 Naira Cash Prize

We’ve got juicy news for you! Today, Pen-Impact Writing and Publishing Enterprise kicks off its First-ever Annual Writing Contest, in celebration of the International Writers’ day. The International Writers’ Day takes place every 3rd of March. There’s no better day to motivate writers to let their pens breathe and bleed again! Here’s the big part of this gist; we are giving out a total prize of 100,000naira to the best three entries in this contest and in the following manner:

The Winner: 50,000 naira

1st Runner Up: 30,000 naira

2nd Runner Up: 20,000 naira

And there are other surprise packages, which we can’t mention now, well because they are “surprise packages”…(winks*).

Wondering what the contest theme is? Have it; “THE PEN IS MIGHTIER”. Interesting right?  Now, before you leap in excitement, hold on for a while; there are rules and processes. Let’s begin with the rules:

  1. Entrants must be citizens of Nigeria, who are also resident in Nigeria
  2. Entries must be written in English
  3. Entries must not exceed 3,000 words and must not be less than 1,500 words
  4. Entries can be of any genre, but must be focused on the theme
  5. Entries should be submitted as  MS word document, with the cover page containing the writer’s name, location, date of birth as well as entry’s title and genre.
  6. Entrants must not submit more than one entry.
  7. Entries must not conflict with the organizational value of the Pen-Impact Writing And Publishing Enterprise (tip: be smart enough to read about us)
  8. All entries must be submitted via e-mail to admin@pen-impact.com on or before April 3rd, 2019.

Entries meeting the above criteria will be screened and evaluated by a panel of judges. The finalists will be shortlisted for public voting and final evaluation by the judges.  For the final selection of the best three entries, the judges’ verdict accounts for 70% of the total score, while public voting accounts for 30% of the total score. Winners will be announced in our Writer’s Workshop themed “Dignity In Writing”, which is scheduled to take place on the 1st of May, 2019 in Abuja, Nigeria.  Finalists who cannot be present for the announcement can send their friend or family member to represent them.
